Sets up a Welsh youth eisteddfod as a ready programme: singing, recitation, Cerdd Dant, dance, drama and craft, with competitors grouped by school year rather than age.
An eisteddfod is a Welsh festival of competitive performance and creative work, and this template models its youth edition. Children and young people compete in Welsh across stage and off-stage sections, from singing and recitation to dance, drama, composition, art, cookery and science.
The template carries sixteen competitions. Eleven are performed on stage: Solo Singing, Recitation (Llefaru), Cerdd Dant (singing to harp accompaniment), Folk Dance, Disco, Hip Hop and Street Dance, Creative Composition Dance, Group Dance, Instrumental Music, Choir Singing, Acting and Group Drama. Five are off-stage, where the finished work is judged rather than a performance: Literary and Composition, Music Composition, Art, Design and Technology, Cookery (CogUrdd) and Science and Technology.
Competitors are grouped by school year, not by age range. The seven groups are Year 2 and under, Years 3 and 4, Years 5 and 6, Years 7 to 9, Years 10 and 11, Years 12 and 13, and an open 14 to 25 group. In the source rules the year is fixed on 31 August and the upper limit is 25. Each group is open to both genders, and the template sets the language of every competition to Welsh.
Thirteen competitions are individual entries; Group Dance, Choir Singing and Group Drama are team entries. The template assigns the competitions to the groups for you, giving 112 item-by-group assignments. Time limits and the 100-mark scale are starting values in the template, so check them against your own rules before you open registration.
Placings run first, second and third in every competition. The source rules publish no banded marking scheme, so the template ships no grade bands, only the three ranks with bonus points of 10, 6 and 3 that you can change to suit your own points table.
Where this event comes from
The eisteddfod is one of the oldest cultural traditions in Wales, a gathering where poets and musicians compete before judges. Youth editions follow the same competitive pattern for schoolchildren.

This template is rebuilt from the printed syllabus of the Welsh national youth eisteddfod, which sets out the sections, the school-year groups and the general rules. Eisteddfodau of this kind are run in Wales, and the same word is used for local and regional festivals elsewhere, but only the Welsh youth format is described here. Use it as a starting point for a school, community or regional Welsh-language festival.
