A school’s inter-school solo singing contest for Junior (classes 7-9) and Senior (classes 10-12) students: one Solo Singing item with a 5-minute limit, the printed five-criterion 100-mark sheet (vocal quality, rhythm, expression, stage presence, song choice) and Winner and Runner-Up places, built from the organiser’s 2026 rules.
A ready-made inter-school solo singing contest with Junior (classes 7-9) and Senior (classes 10-12) categories, a five-minute slot per singer, the printed five-criterion 100-mark sheet and a Winner and Runner-Up in each category.
This template models a single-competition solo singing contest that a school runs for students from other schools. It is built from the organiser’s own 2026 rules document, so the categories, time limit and judging sheet are real, while the date, venue and entry details change every edition and should be checked before reuse. Only bona fide school students may enter, and the contest is strictly solo: duets and group performances are not allowed.
There is one item, Solo Singing, entered in one of two categories defined by school class rather than age: Junior for classes 7 to 9 and Senior for classes 10 to 12. Each performance may last five minutes including set-up, which means walking on and adjusting the microphone counts against the clock. Singers may use an instrumental karaoke track or sing a cappella, and lyrics must not be read from a sheet. Songs come from three broad styles, Bollywood hits, classical and Western pop and rock, in Hindi, English or any recognised Indian regional language.
Judging uses five printed criteria with a recommended weightage out of 100: vocal quality and technique 40, rhythm and timing (laya) 20, expression and musicality 20, stage presence and confidence 10, and choice of song 10. A Winner and a Runner-Up are awarded in each category. No points per place are printed, so the ranks carry no bonus points.
The source prints classes, not ages, so the template keeps the class restriction on each group and uses placeholder age bands of 12 to 14 and 15 to 17 that a coordinator should adjust. Rules the software cannot enforce, such as the penalty of one mark per ten seconds over the limit, the cap of four entries per school with at most two per category, the karaoke submission deadline and the song-change approval, belong on the Registration Page as written rules.
Where this event comes from
The contest is run by a school as part of its annual inter-school festival programme.
Where this event is run
Inter-school solo singing contests with separate junior and senior categories are a familiar part of school festivals across India and in many other countries. Host schools and school clubs use them to give students from neighbouring schools a stage, with a short fixed slot per singer and a single panel scoring every entry on the same sheet.
