The Vina del Mar song festival of Chile, with its folk and international competitions judged on a seven-point scale.

Sets up a two-category song festival: a folk competition and an international competition, each for solo singers aged 16 and over, scored on the 1 to 7 scale used in Chilean schools, with a Silver Seagull champion title.

This template builds a song festival in the style of the one held each year at Vina del Mar, on the coast of Chile. A coordinator opens an event that already holds the two competitive categories, the age and participant settings, the grades and the champion title, instead of a blank catalogue. It suits a televised-style singing contest where a panel and the public both have a say.

The template carries two items, both on stage. Cancion – Competencia Folclorica is the folk competition and Cancion – Competencia Internacional is the international competition. Each sits in its own group, set up for individual singers aged 16 and over, open to both genders, performing in Spanish, with a ten-minute limit per performance. The international group allows overlap, so a singer can enter both categories.

Scoring follows the real format as reported: a jury of nine marks each song on Chile’s standard 1 to 7 academic scale, and a separate audience vote is counted on its own. No named sub-criteria are published for the jury, so the template does not invent any; it gives you a single mark out of 7 per judge. Grades are Excellent (6.0 to 7.0), Good (5.0 to 5.9) and Average (4.0 to 4.9). The champion title is Gaviota de Plata, with 10 bonus points, then second with 6 and third with 3. Only the Gaviota de Plata is an official title; second and third are record-keeping.

To run it, collect entries through the Registration Page, add up to nine judges, and let the tabulation average each song’s marks into one result per category. The audience vote is not part of the judges’ scoring in the software, so tally it separately and combine it as your own rules require. The comedy awards and the honours for invited guest artists that appear around the real festival are not competitions here and are left out.

Where this event is run

Chile, where this song festival is among the best-known in Latin America, and any organiser running a regional, school or community singing contest with a folk category and a contemporary category judged by a panel. It is a poor fit for a multi-item arts festival, because it holds only two individual song items.
