Social Science Fair Entry Form: The Official Item Code List by Section (LP, UP, HS, HSS/VHSS)

The Kerala school Social Science Fair (Samoohyashastramela) uses the same item-code system as the Science and Maths fairs — an official three-digit code per item, tied to the class section rather than the item name alone. This article sets out the verified code list from the fair’s own sub-district entry form, section by section, and a code-numbering gap worth knowing about before you assume a missing item. The item code list, by section

The Social Science Fair’s sub-district entry form is the shortest of the three academic fairs at the top end — 7 items at HS and HSS/VHSS level, against the Maths Fair’s 14 — but it’s also the only one of the three where the LP section includes a Quiz.

One thing to flag rather than paper over: the LP section’s own codes jump from 185 straight to 188, skipping 186 and 187. The form doesn’t say what those two codes belong to, and this article doesn’t guess — if your circular lists additional LP items, check their codes directly rather than assuming they slot into that gap.

The item set here is noticeably shorter than what a full Social Science Fair catalogue can include — the five-fair overview also lists Album Making, History Seminar and News Reading as Social Science items. Those don’t appear on this sub-district entry form, which is a useful reminder on its own: the sub-district round’s own paperwork is often a subset of the full manual’s catalogue, not the whole thing, and a school should enter what its actual current-year form asks for rather than the broadest possible list.

What the entry form asks for

Same structure as the other fairs: school name and code, participant counts by gender, number of escorting teachers, then per item the exhibit name (where relevant), participant names in block letters, class, gender and a remarks column, closing with the escorting teacher’s and head of institution’s signatures.

See the registration and qualification guide for how a shortlist moves from school to state, and the Science Fair and Maths Fair item-code tables for the equivalent lists on those fairs.

Running your Social Science Fair entries on eTalenter

eTalenter sets up each section’s item list once — with your own item codes if you want them to match the official ones — and collects exhibit names, participant details and escort teacher information correctly the first time. Results, grades and the qualifying shortlist for the next round come straight out of the system. See online registration and judge scoring and tabulation for how the setup works.

You can see it without signing up. Open a live demo and log in as a demo coordinator or judge — it’s read-only, so nothing you click changes a real event.

Frequently asked questions

Does LP level enter a Quiz in the Social Science Fair?

Yes — unlike the Science and Maths fairs, the Social Science Fair’s LP section includes Quiz (code 188) alongside Collections Model/Chart (code 185).

What are LP item codes 186 and 187?

They don’t appear on the sub-district entry form’s own LP section, which lists only 185 and 188. If your circular references them, confirm directly with the current year’s form rather than assuming what they cover.

Why doesn’t this entry form list Album Making or History Seminar?

Those items appear in the fuller Social Science Fair catalogue but not on this particular sub-district entry form, which only asks for the seven items above at HS/HSS level. Enter what your current-year form actually requests.
