Maths Fair Entry Form: The Official Item Code List by Section (LP, UP, HS, HSS/VHSS)

The Kerala school Mathematics Fair (Ganithashastramela) uses the same pattern as the Science Fair: every item has an official three-digit code, and the code is tied to the class section, not just the item name. A school filling in the sub-district entry form for the first time can easily copy the wrong code across sections, or assume an item exists at a level where it doesn’t. This article sets out the verified code list from the fair’s own official entry form, section by section. (മലയാളത്തിൽ വായിക്കുക)

The item code list, by section

The Maths Fair item set is the deepest of the five fairs at HS and HSS/VHSS level — 14 items each, more than double the Science Fair’s section size — but it shrinks sharply going down to LP, where only six simple items run.

From the sub-district Mathematics Fair entry form’s own item list. The LP section’s Teaching Aid row is printed on the form without a code — confirm with your current circular rather than assuming one. Confirm the full list against the current year’s form before filing.

Notice how the item set actually grows: LP has 6 items, UP adds Teaching Aid and Game for 7, HS doubles up with Other Chart, Working Model, Pure/Applied Construction, Single/Group Project and Quiz for 14, and HSS/VHSS keeps the same 14. Pure Construction and Applied Construction — geometric construction done with instruments versus construction applied to a real problem — only start at HS level, as does Group Project, the one team item in an otherwise almost entirely individual fair.

What the entry form asks for

The structure matches the Science Fair’s form: school name and code, participant counts by gender and total, number of escorting teachers, then per item the participant names in block letters, their class and gender, with a remarks column. It closes with the escorting teacher’s and head of institution’s signatures. With 14 items in the largest sections, a Maths Fair entry form has more rows to fill correctly than any of the other four fairs — the kind of volume where a transcription error (a swapped code, a student listed under the wrong item) is easy to miss on paper and costly to catch late.

See the five-fair Sasthrolsavam overview for the Maths Fair’s scoring model (it’s almost entirely Individual, Group Project being the one exception), the registration and qualification guide for how a shortlist moves from school to state, and the Science Fair item codes for the equivalent table on that fair.

Running your Maths Fair entries on eTalenter

With 14 items to track at HS and HSS/VHSS level, a spreadsheet built for a single competition starts to strain. eTalenter sets up each section’s full item list once, with your own item codes if you want them to match the official ones, and collects participant and escort details correctly the first time. Results and the qualifying shortlist for the next round come straight out of the system instead of being recomputed from a paper scoresheet. See online registration and judge scoring and tabulation for how the setup works.

You can see it without signing up. Open a live demo and log in as a demo coordinator or judge — it’s read-only, so nothing you click changes a real event.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the Maths Fair have more items than the Science Fair?

At HS and HSS/VHSS level the Maths Fair runs 14 items against the Science Fair’s 7–10, because it splits out chart types (Number, Geometrical, Other), construction types (Pure, Applied) and project types (Single, Group) that the Science Fair doesn’t separate the same way.

Is Group Project the only team item in the Maths Fair?

Based on the fair’s own item list, yes — Group Project is the one item built around more than one student; every other item on this entry form is filled in for individual participants.

Does LP level enter Teaching Aid?

It’s listed on the LP section of the entry form, but printed without an item code — check your current year’s form and circular before treating it as an active LP item, and remember Teaching Aid is a teachers’ competition, not a student one, in the other Sasthrolsavam fairs too.
