A church talent test has no single national item list. Every youth wing and Sunday School association publishes its own circular, each with its own age groups and its own set of items. What they share is the kind of items — songs, speech, Bible quiz, writing, instruments and group songs — and a ladder from the local church up to a state final. Below are three real structures taken from the circulars of three different church youth wings, as a programs list you can copy and adapt. No single one is “correct”; pick the shape that fits your members, then publish it before registration opens.

How a church talent test is usually run
- Levels: each local church holds the first round, then winners go up to a district round, sometimes a zonal round, and finally a state or regional final. The church itself is the first level; it has no houses or sub-units under it.
- Age groups by age, not school class: these are youth and adult programmes, so the bands follow age — counted on a cut-off date you publish — and often run well past thirty.
- “Common” and “group” pools: some items — instruments, classical music, group songs — are open to every age in one pool instead of being split by age group.
- Grades or results only: some talent tests publish grades and rankings without giving awards at all. Decide which you will do before the first round.
Structure 1: adult-heavy age bands

Which structure should you use?
- Mostly young adults and working members? Structure 1’s bands (15–21, 22–30, 31–41 and older) keep a 16-year-old from competing against a 35-year-old, and the separate Common and Group pools stop instruments and group songs from being split into tiny age groups.
- Strong teenage membership? Structure 2 starts at 13 and gives writing items a clear 15-minute limit, which is easy to supervise in one hall.
- Children and adults in the same event? Structure 3 runs from 5 upwards, with memory verse and drawing for the youngest band and Bible quiz from Junior upwards.
