Every Sunday School association writes its own talent test circular, so there is no single Sunday School talent test item list. They do share a pattern: the children are split into narrow age bands, the items are songs, Bible quiz, Bible verses, storytelling, speech, writing and drawing, and the test runs from the local church up to a district and state round. Below are three real structures from three different Sunday School circulars, as a programs list you can copy and adapt. Structure 1: narrow age bands, a teachers’ category and shared pools

Which structure should you use?
- Large association with many churches? Structure 1’s narrow bands keep a 9-year-old from competing against a 13-year-old. Its Common and Group pools stop instruments and group songs from being split into tiny age groups. It also gives teachers their own category, with song, quiz and essay, so staff can take part without competing against students.
- Want to include every child? Structure 2 adds a Group G for children with special needs, with its own solo and colouring items. Those children compete among themselves, and every child who wants to take part has an item to enter.
- A single parish or a small Sunday School? Structure 3’s four broad bands are easy to fill. The youngest children get colouring, action song, a solo and a group song — items a four-year-old can actually perform.
Before you publish the circular
- Fix the age cut-off date, so a child’s band does not change halfway through the season.
- Set the Bible portions for quiz and verse items early; children and teachers need weeks to prepare.
- Decide grades or ranks. Some Sunday School tests publish grades only and give no awards — say which you will do.
- Plan the levels: church first, then district, sometimes zonal, then a state final, with each church’s coordinator sending its winners upward.
