Sydney Stars on Show (Sydney, New South Wales, Australia) 2026: a two-day amateur studio dance competition with troupe sections in jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, acrobatics, musical theatre and school dance (small and large troupes in four styles) by seven age groups, plus jazz solo and duo/trio eliminations run in heats.

This template models a two-day amateur studio dance competition held in Sydney, New South Wales, on 31 October and 1 November 2026. Entrants are dance studios and their pupils, and everyone competes as an amateur. The programme is built almost entirely around troupes: groups of at least four dancers who perform a single routine of up to five minutes. Eleven troupe sections are printed – Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Miscellaneous, Musical Theatre, Primary School Dance and Secondary School Dance – and the last two accept any style.
Four of those styles – Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Contemporary – split into a small troupe (4 to 10 dancers) and a large troupe (11 or more) when there are enough entries. That is why the template carries 17 items rather than 11: two solo and duo elimination items, eight small and large troupe items, and seven single-section troupe items. Troupes are placed by the average age of their dancers on 1 January 2026, in seven bands: 5 and under, 6 and under, 8 and under, 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under and 15 and over.
Solo and duo/trio dancing is offered in jazz only and is run as an elimination rather than a one-routine-one-score contest. Entries are placed into heats by age group, dance to music the organiser allocates, and are scored by two or three adjudicators. Only the top scorers are re-called for later rounds, so the number of heats, rounds and placings depends on how many entries arrive. Solo has six age groups (6 and under up to 15 and over); duo/trio entries share the troupe age groups.
The programme prints no marks, mark bands, grades or named placings, so the template installs none: each item is scored out of 100 as a neutral default and entry fees are installed as zero. Coordinators should add the organiser’s own scoring scheme once it is confirmed. Several rules have no structured field and are best published as written rules for studios: a five-point deduction for exceeding the time limit, a limit of two appearances per troupe in a section, the option to split a section with more than 20 competitors, prompting allowed only in the 5-and-under sections, and the written protest procedure. The syllabus does not say which troupe sections run in which age group, so every section is listed in every troupe age group and the organiser removes the ones that are not run.
