The Aliwan Fiesta of the Philippines, with its street dance, float, festival music, photography and Reyna ng Aliwan competitions.

Sets up a Philippine festival contest: street dance, float parade, festival music, a photography competition and a women’s pageant, with real published judging weightings and five placings plus special awards.

This template builds a festival competition in the style of the large street-pageant contest held each year in Manila, where regional contingents bring costumed dance, decorated floats and original festival music to compete in front of a public audience. A coordinator opens an event that already holds the five competition items, the two entry divisions and the placings and special awards, instead of starting from a blank catalogue.

Five items are included. Streetdance, Float Parade and Tugtog ng Aliwan (festival music) are team items entered by a contingent. Reyna ng Aliwan is a women’s pageant entered individually, and the Photography Competition is judged from submitted images rather than a live performance, so it sits off stage. Two divisions carry them: Contingents, open to a wide age range, and a Reyna division for entrants aged 16 to 30. Those age bands and the ten-minute performance limit are working defaults, because the festival does not publish them in a form the template could copy.

What is real is the judging. The festival’s own criteria weight Streetdance at 35 for theme and concept, 20 each for choreography and performance, 15 for costume and 10 for props. Float entries score 50 for craftsmanship, 25 for theme and 25 for overall impact or ingenuity. Tugtog ng Aliwan weighs musicality 50, showmanship 40 and audience impact 10, and Reyna weighs personality 35, beauty and poise 35, costume 20 and overall impact 10. Entries in the music item run four to five minutes and use live instruments and voices only, with nothing pre-recorded. The template scores each item out of 100, so you can enter those weightings as your own criteria.

Placings run from Grand Champion to fifth place, worth 12, 8, 6, 4 and 2 points, with a consolation award and three special awards worth 3 points each: Pride of Place, Best in Costume and Best in Music Accompaniment. To run it, collect entries through the Registration Page, add your judges, and let the tabulation produce a ranked result per item. The public Netizens’ Choice vote in the real festival is not a judged competition, so it is left out; if you run an audience vote, tally it outside the software and add it to your own announcement.

Where this event is run

The Philippines, where the festival grew out of the country’s many town fiestas, and any organiser running a street parade, cultural carnival, regional heritage festival or school foundation day that mixes dance, floats, music and a pageant. It is a poor fit for a single-discipline dance or singing contest, because it carries five different formats, and it does not model contingent size caps or regional quotas, which the organiser does not publish.
