A national public speaking competition for young speakers in Malaysia: prepared and impromptu speech across three age categories.

Prepared Speech and Impromptu Speech across three age categories, ready to install. Adjust the categories, time limits and theme to match your own school, district or online round, and open registration the same day.

This template rebuilds a Malaysian national public speaking competition as a working eTalenter event. It is a single-discipline contest: young speakers enter the prepared format, the impromptu format, or both, and are judged on what they say and how they say it. A coordinator starts with the real structure rather than an empty catalogue.

There are two competition items. Prepared Speech is a speech the entrant has written and rehearsed on a chosen topic, with a maximum of 6 minutes. Impromptu Speech gives the speaker a theme and one minute of preparation before speaking for one to two minutes. Both are individual items, open to boys and girls, and delivered in English. Each item is offered to every category, giving six item-by-category assignments.

Entrants are grouped into Category A (ages 10 to 12), Category B (13 to 15) and Category C (16 to 17). The real competition runs a video-submission preliminary round followed by a live grand final for the top finalists in each category. You can mirror that by running a first round with recorded entries and a second round for those who qualify, or run a single live round for a school or district.

Fees are set to zero because entry to the original competition is free; set your own if your round charges. Marks are entered on a 10-point scale per judge, because the published judging criteria (content, delivery, clarity and relevance) carry no fixed points split. Your panel can agree its own weighting for those four areas and enter a single mark for each speaker.

Where this event is run

This template follows a Malaysian national format. The same two-format structure, a prepared speech plus an impromptu round with short preparation time, is widely used in school and youth public speaking contests, so it suits any organiser who wants age-banded English speech rounds.
