Academic & Youth Fair · Learner Festival

The Philippines’ Department of Education (DepEd) learner festival, run division, regional and national: Kindergarten Draw and Tell, Read-A-Thon (Story Retelling, LikhaWento, TahiRawan, Story Resolution, Advocacy Speech, BidyoKasiya), SNED Abilympics (Filipino Sign Language and Braille), STEMazing, HistoPop quizzes and speech, the Sining-Tanghalan arts contests and Technolympics, grouped by grade level, with the printed 100-mark criteria for 26 of 29 items.

Sets up the Philippine learner festival from Kindergarten drawing to Grade 12 technical skills – 29 live contests, grade-based groups, and printed 100-mark criteria for 26 of them – so a division coordinator starts from the real contest list rather than a blank page.

The Festival of Talents is the Philippine Department of Education’s learner festival, held as a ladder of three tiers: the Division Festival of Talents, the Regional Festival of Talents and the National Festival of Talents. At division level one learner, or one team, and a teacher-coach represent each municipality; at the higher tiers a division or region sends its winners. The regional and national tiers run the same contests under the same criteria, so a single template serves all three.

This template carries the 29 contests that are judged or run live. They span reading and storytelling (Story Retelling, LikhaWento, TahiRawan, Story Resolution Challenge), advocacy speech and video, Filipino Sign Language and Braille story interpretation, mathematics and science challenges (NumbeRace, AGHAMazing), history and development quizzes, and the Sining-Tanghalan performing and visual arts contests such as folk dance, dance exhibition, short film, on-the-spot acting, songwriting and painting. The Technolympics skills contests close the programme: extension cord assembly, food preparation, dish gardening, technical drafting, electrical installation, baking and food processing.

Entry is by grade level, not by age. The groups are Kindergarten, Grade 3, Grades 4 to 6, Grade 6, Grades 7 to 10, Grade 10, Grades 11 to 12 and Grades 9 to 12, with team groups for the contests that field more than one learner. The source prints grade levels only, so the age ranges in the template are an approximate mapping from the usual age of each grade, and each learner is restricted to the group of their grade. Several contests are open to a single grade only, which is why Grade 6 and Grade 10 have groups of their own.

Scoring is out of 100 for every contest. Printed judging criteria that add up to 100 are installed for 26 of the 29 contests; where a printed table has sub-items, each sub-item becomes its own criterion with its printed mark. The remaining three – the two quizzes and the invitation card contest – ship without criteria, because they are scored by correct answers or because the printed table does not add up, and no mark has been altered. The Braille reading contest also carries four descriptive grades from Exceptional to Certificate of Participation, and placings run from first to fifth.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change this template after installing it?

Yes — installing it creates a fully configured, live event, not a locked package. Every age group, competition item, rule and scoring setting can be edited afterwards to match exactly what your event actually needs.

Do I need technical knowledge to set this up?

No. Installing a template does the setup work for you; you only need to review the details (dates, unit or house names) and open registration.
