Speech & Drama · Australia & New Zealand

The Abermain Eisteddfod (New South Wales, Australia, 109th year) Speech & Drama section, with real Recitation and Duologue/Trio classes across a full 13-tier age ladder from 5 Years & Under to Allcomers.

A ready-made speech and drama eisteddfod programme: a Recitation class for every age tier from five years and under to open entry, plus Duologue/Trio for older tiers, with the time limits already entered.

This template models the speech and drama section of a long-established Australian community eisteddfod, built from that section’s own 2026 syllabus. Competitors enter a class for their age, perform once before an adjudicator and an audience, and are placed first, second or third. It is a small, focused programme rather than a long list of items.

Two items are included. Recitation is an own-choice spoken piece with a three-minute limit, offered in all thirteen age tiers, from ‘5 Years & Under’ through to ‘Allcomers’, the open all-ages tier. Duologue/Trio is a short scene for two or three performers with a six-minute limit, and the source offers it in only six tiers: Allcomers and 16, 14, 12, 10 and 8 Years & Under. The other seven tiers deliberately have no Duologue/Trio assignment.

Age tiers use the cumulative ‘X Years & Under’ wording of the original syllabus, resolved here into one-year bands so each performer lands in a single tier. The source also marks some tiers as open and others as restricted, meaning a past winner of the same section at that age may not re-enter, and one junior tier is further limited by local residence. eTalenter does not model those eligibility limits, so organisers who need them should apply them at registration.

Entry fees are set to zero so each organiser enters their own, and the placings carry no points because the source prints none. Scores use a nominal ten-point scale as a working convention. Other classes in the original syllabus, such as championships, prose, character sketches and scholarship classes, are not included.

Where this event comes from

The programme is drawn from the official 2026 speech syllabus of a New South Wales community eisteddfod now in its 109th year.

Where this event is run

The structure suits a community eisteddfod, a school speech festival, a drama studio showcase or a youth speaking day where one own-choice class runs across a wide age ladder and a few older tiers add a pair or trio scene. Keep the Duologue/Trio tiers you can staff with an adjudicator and a stage slot.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change this template after installing it?

Yes — installing it creates a fully configured, live event, not a locked package. Every age group, competition item, rule and scoring setting can be edited afterwards to match exactly what your event actually needs.

Do I need technical knowledge to set this up?

No. Installing a template does the setup work for you; you only need to review the details (dates, unit or house names) and open registration.
