Sports and Arts in One Event: Which Results Page to Use

A festival with both arts and sports has two kinds of results, and they are not entered the same way. A song or a drawing is scored by judges. A 100 m race or a long jump is decided by a stopwatch or a tape, so there are no judge scores to add up. eTalenter has a separate results page for each, under the same Manage Results menu. This guide shows which page to use for which competition, with screenshots from the read-only live demo.

Which page to open for which kind of competition.

Step 1: Add both kinds of competitions to one event

When you create the event you choose a competition type, Arts or Sports. When you add competitions, each one is marked as Arts or Sports, so a single event can hold a song, a drawing and a 100 m sprint. Age groups, levels, registration, chest numbers and ID cards are shared by all of them. You do not need a second event for the sports side.

Step 2: Find the two results pages

Open Manage Results in the menu. It has three items: Result Dashboard, Assign Winners (marker 1) and Assign Results Manually (marker 2). Both ranking pages are offered to Arts and Sports events, so you will see them whichever type you chose. The Result Dashboard lists every competition with its status, arts and sports together, so you can see at a glance what is still waiting.

Step 3: Judged arts items go to Assign Winners

Open Assign Winners. Use the age-group tabs and the competition list on the left, then pick a competition (marker 1). For a judged item each participant shows a Final Score and the number of Judges who scored (marker 3). Use Generate Rank 1 & 2 or Generate Rank 1 – 3 (marker 2) to fill the top ranks from the scores, or choose a rank for each person with Select Rank (marker 4). The Change Status box on the same page moves the competition on to the next stage.

Step 4: Sports items go to Assign Results Manually

Open Assign Results Manually. The page is called Sports Result Management and its description reads “Direct rank assignment for sports competitions without judge scoring” (marker 1). Pick the competition in the list (marker 2). The page shows how many participants are in it, then one row per participant with the ID number, registration ID and name. Choose each participant’s rank in the Assign Rank column (marker 4). The Change Status box (marker 3) is on this page too.

Step 5: Publish both together

Once ranks are set, publishing is the same for arts and sports. The Publish Results group beside Manage Results has Result Presentation, Publish Online, Podium Results, Individual Results and Calculate Awards. Arts and sports results appear together in the same event results.
