Ultimate Dance Spectacular (Rooty Hill, New South Wales, Australia) 2026 troupes syllabus: 11 troupe sections – jazz, lyrical and hip hop/funk in small and large troupes, plus classical, modern, musical theatre/entertainment, contemporary and tap – for troupe age groups from 5 and under to 15 and over, with placings to 3rd and Highly Commended.

A ready-made dance troupes competition for studios and dance schools: jazz, lyrical and hip hop/funk each split into small and large troupes, plus classical, modern, musical theatre/entertainment, contemporary and tap. Every entry is a team of four or more, grouped by the oldest dancer into seven age bands from 5 and under to 15 and over, with a four-minute limit and placings to Highly Commended.

This template models a two-day amateur dance troupes competition held in New South Wales, Australia, built from the organiser’s own printed 2026 troupes-only syllabus. Every entry is a team: a troupe must have at least four dancers, and all eleven sections are open to both genders and are not tied to a language. The template carries the seven printed troupe styles – jazz, classical, modern, musical theatre/entertainment, contemporary, tap and hip hop/funk – and adds lyrical, which the syllabus names only in its entry-fee note.

Jazz, lyrical and hip hop/funk are each run twice, as a small troupe (four to eleven dancers) and a large troupe (twelve and over), which is why a syllabus of seven styles becomes eleven sections here. Classical, modern, musical theatre/entertainment, contemporary and tap are single sections with no size split. Each section has its own competition page on this site, so a studio can check exactly what a section covers before entering.

Dancers are grouped into seven age bands: 5 and under, 6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15 and over. The syllabus prints cumulative labels (5/U, 6/U, 8/U and so on); the template installs them as consecutive, non-overlapping bands, with 3 as a floor for the youngest because no minimum is printed. The band is set by the oldest dancer in the troupe, not the average, and the syllabus allows up to two dancers to be up to twelve months older than the band they enter. The 5-and-under band is printed for jazz only, so it is assigned to the two jazz sections and the other nine sections start at age 6.

Every troupe performs to a four-minute limit that includes tags, and a troupe that runs over is cut off and disqualified. Each section is scored out of 100 on the platform, but the syllabus prints no judging criteria, marks or points for placings. First, Second, Third and Highly Commended are therefore installed with no points. Entry and admission fees, the per-studio cap on troupes, the splitting of busy sections into A and B, music upload deadlines and conduct rules are not modelled; organisers set those in their own notices and event settings.

Where this event is run

Troupe sections graded by the oldest dancer and split into small and large groups are a familiar format at dance eisteddfods and competitive dance festivals in Australia and New Zealand, and the same jazz, lyrical, hip hop, contemporary and tap categories appear at dance championships in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and the United States. Studios use them to bring whole classes on stage rather than only soloists. This template reflects one New South Wales troupes programme, so its age bands, four-minute limit and placings describe that syllabus only; organisers elsewhere would normally adjust the bands and add scoring criteria of their own.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change this template after installing it?

Yes — installing it creates a fully configured, live event, not a locked package. Every age group, competition item, rule and scoring setting can be edited afterwards to match exactly what your event actually needs.

Do I need technical knowledge to set this up?

No. Installing a template does the setup work for you; you only need to review the details (dates, unit or house names) and open registration.
