Zealous Dance Competition (Queensland, Australia) terms and conditions 2027: 14 dance genres and events (ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, acro, entertainment, improv, championships and adult troupes) for solos, duos/trios and troupes by age from 4 and under to Open, scored out of 100 on technique, performance and execution, choreography, and music and presentation.

A ready-made multi-genre dance competition: twelve genres plus a solo championship and an adults’ troupe class, open to soloists, duos/trios and troupes in age groups from 4 and under up to Open age, with every entry scored out of 100 on one four-part scheme.

This template models a multi-genre dance competition with three entry types: solos, duos/trios and troupes. It is built from one organiser’s printed terms and conditions, which cover all three in a single set of rules. The competition is built around genres rather than around a single dance form, so an entrant chooses a genre (ballet, jazz, tap and so on) and then competes against others of the same entry type and age group.

Age is counted at 1 January of the competition year, and the printed groups are 4 years and under (solos and duos/trios only), then 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 years and under, and Open age. The source prints these as cumulative “and under” labels, so the template installs them as consecutive bands (3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16 and 17 and over). That gives 23 age groups: 8 for solos, 8 for duos/trios and 7 for troupes. A duo, trio or troupe takes the age of its eldest member, and the source lets a troupe include two dancers one calendar year above the group.

There are fourteen competitions. Twelve are genres or styles: Ballet, Jazz, Broadway Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Acro, Entertainment (musical theatre, song and dance, song and tap, demi-character), Any Style / Open, Student Choreography and Improvisation. Broadway Jazz, Student Choreography and Improvisation run for solos and duos/trios only. The other two are Championship, a solo-only event for dancers who enter three routines and re-dance one of them, and Mature and Inspired, an adults’ troupe class for dancers who cannot compete in the other sections. In all the template carries 264 classes.

Every class uses the same scoring scheme: Technique 50, Performance and Execution 30, Choreography 15 and Music and Presentation 5, a total of 100. Two adjudicators score each routine independently and the two scores are averaged. Each section awards 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Highly Commended at the adjudicators’ discretion, and the Championship adds Champion and Runner Up. The source prints no points for placings, so they are installed with zero points, and it prints no time limits, so none are set.

Plenty of the rulebook is about running the weekend rather than judging it, so the template leaves it to your own registration content: entry fees and the late-entry and transfer fees, the rule that a dancer may enter no more than twice in any one section, the ban on repeating a routine outside the Championship, critique-only entries for staff and volunteers, and the prop, music, dressing-room and photography rules. The source does not say which genres run at which age, so every printed genre is listed in every group of the matching entry type and the coordinator removes whatever the event does not offer.

Where this event is run

Multi-genre dance competitions with solo, duo/trio and troupe sections and separate championship titles are a staple of the competitive dance calendar in Australia, and the same pattern of genre-by-age-group classes is found in dance eisteddfods and regional dance festivals in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States and Canada. This template comes from a single Australian event, so its age groups, genres and four-part scoring describe that programme. Organisers elsewhere usually change the age bands, set time limits per section and agree their own marking scheme with the adjudication panel before the event.
