Work Experience Fair On-the-Spot Items: The Official 25-Item List (Primary Section)

The Kerala school Work Experience Fair’s On-the-Spot competition (Primary Section, covering LP and UP) works differently from the Science, Maths and Social Science fairs in one important way: its official entry form has no item codes at all. Every other Sasthrolsavam fair’s sub-district form numbers each item with a three-digit code; this one just lists 25 craft items in order, by name. This article sets out the verified official item list and the paperwork rules specific to this fair, which are also genuinely different from the others. (മലയാളത്തിൽ വായിക്കുക)

The 25 official items (Primary Section)

This is the verified list from the fair’s own “Form No. IV (B)” On-the-Spot entry form, numbered as the form itself numbers them — sequential item numbers, not codes:

From the On-the-Spot (Primary Section) entry form’s own item list, for LP and UP. The form allows up to two student entries per item per school. Confirm against the current year’s form, as item lists can be revised.

This is the official Primary Section list specifically — the HS and HSS/VHSS sections run a larger catalogue (around 35 items, adding Electronics, Garment Making, Budding/Layering/Grafting among others per the fair’s own manual), covered on a separate form this article hasn’t sourced directly. Don’t assume the two lists are the same; a school entering both sections needs both forms.

Why this fair has no item codes

Every item here is an on-the-spot craft competition — a student makes the item during the event itself, in a roughly three-hour sitting, rather than bringing a pre-built exhibit. That’s a different operational shape from Science or Maths Fair’s Working Model or Research Type Project, which travel to the venue already finished. On-the-spot items don’t need a code for pre-registering an exhibit name in advance the way a pre-built project does; the form only needs to know which craft station a student is assigned to, which is why a simple sequential list does the job the other fairs use a code for.

The paperwork rules are different too

The form’s own printed instructions are specific to this fair and worth knowing before you fill one in:

  • Separate entry forms for LP and UP. Don’t combine both sections on one form.
  • Multiple copies, multiple destinations. Three copies of the entry form go to the sub-district’s General Convener, and a further copy goes to the department’s central Work Experience section office — a distribution step none of the other fairs’ entry forms require.
  • Rolling trophies are collected before registration, not after — the form instructs schools to collect any rolling trophies they’re holding and hand them to the Trophy committee as a condition of registering, which is easy to miss if you’re focused only on the item list.
  • A Team Manager is named separately from the escorting teachers — the form has a dedicated line for the team manager’s name and address, in addition to up to three escorting teachers.

See the five-fair Sasthrolsavam overview for Work Experience’s single shared scoring rubric (Workload/contribution 40%, Skill and completeness 25%, Knowledge of materials and tools 20%, Social utility and marketability 15%, applied identically to every item), and the registration and qualification guide for how entries move from school to state.

Running your Work Experience Fair entries on eTalenter

An on-the-spot craft competition still needs the same underlying setup as any other item — a station assignment per student, a judge panel, a scoresheet — even without a pre-printed code. eTalenter lets you set up all 25 Primary Section items (or the larger HS/HSS list) as their own competitions, collect student and team manager details once, and apply the fair’s single shared rubric consistently across every craft item instead of re-explaining it to each judge on the day. See online registration and judge scoring and tabulation for how the setup works.

You can see it without signing up. Open a live demo and log in as a demo coordinator or judge — it’s read-only, so nothing you click changes a real event.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Work Experience Fair use item codes like Science or Maths Fair?

No, at least not on the On-the-Spot Primary Section entry form — items are listed by sequential number and name only, since each one is made on the spot rather than pre-registered as a finished exhibit.

How many students can a school enter per item?

The Primary Section form provides two numbered slots per item, so up to two students per school per item, based on the form’s own layout.

Is this the same item list for HS and HSS/VHSS?

No. This 25-item list is specific to the Primary Section (LP and UP). The HS and HSS/VHSS sections run a larger catalogue on their own separate form.
