Girl Scouts of the Philippines, Bohol Girl Scout Council talent contest (2019 provincial): Twinkler, Star, Junior, Senior and Cadet levels with poem, vocal solo and duet, drawing and painting, declamation, essay, Tula, spoken word poetry and singing choir, with the printed 100-mark criteria for spoken word poetry and the choir.

A ready-made provincial talent contest for girl scouting members: five age levels from Twinkler to Senior, ten contests across poetry, singing, drawing, painting, essay and spoken word, plus a choir and a duet entered as teams.

This template sets up the provincial round of a girl scouting talent contest, the final step of a ladder that runs school or district first, then eight geographic areas, then the province. It was built from the 2019 provincial rules, read against the 2018 edition. Contestants at the final are the first-prize winners of each category from the area rounds, they must be registered members as of the last day of the contest year, and each girl may enter one category only at any level. A girl who won first prize in a category at a previous provincial final cannot enter that same category again. Those qualification and eligibility rules are not structure the platform can enforce, so they stay registration rules for the coordinator to apply.

Entrants compete in five levels, and the rules print level names rather than ages or school grades. In order they are Twinkler, Star, Junior, Cadet and Senior, so the template carries placeholder age bands of 5-7, 8-9, 10-12, 13-15 and 16-18 only to place entrants in level order. A coordinator must replace them with the real bands before registration opens. Two further groups sit beside them as teams: Cadet Choir for the choir and Senior Duet for the duet. Every item is set for girls only, as individual entries except those two team groups, and every item is installed as scored out of 100 with entry fees left at zero.

The programme is small and different at each level. Twinkler girls enter a poem and a vocal solo in English. Star girls enter a vocal solo in Tagalog, an on-the-spot pencil drawing and an English declamation. Junior girls enter a vocal solo in the local Visayan language, an on-the-spot crayon drawing, an English essay and a Tagalog tula, the Filipino poem form. The Cadet level has a single contest, spoken word poetry, with an original piece on a topic drawn from a bowl in the local Visayan language, and the Cadet Choir sings in English with keyboard accompaniment only. Seniors enter an on-the-spot pastel painting and an English essay, and the Senior Duet sings in English.

The rules print marks for only two contests, so those are the only two with criteria. Spoken Word Poetry is judged out of 100 as Message and Content 40, Delivery and Performance 30, Voice Variation and Projection 15, Memorization 10 and Audience Impact 5. Singing Choir is judged out of 100 as Technique 35, Musical and Artistic Interpretation 30, Difficulty of Piece 15, Choreography 10 and Overall Performance 10. For every other contest the rules name the criteria but give no marks, so none are shipped rather than invented, and the organiser adds a score sheet for those. The rules also print no placing ranks, grades or points. Contest songs and poems, the timing deduction for spoken word poetry and the uniform rule are likewise kept as registration rules. Rules change between editions, so check the current rules before reusing items or timings.

Where this event comes from

Built from the 2019 provincial rules of a girl scouting council in the Philippines, with the 2018 edition used as a cross-check. The 2018 edition also had a Cadet folk dance and a Cadet essay, which are not in the 2019 rules and are left out.

Where this event is run

A level-based talent contest for girl scouting members, run from local round to area round to a provincial final, is the format used by girl scouting councils in the Philippines, where each council sets its own contests and languages from year to year. This template follows one council’s provincial programme and suits any council, youth organisation or school group that wants a short, mixed talent programme with English, Filipino and a regional language, five levels, girls-only entries and a team choir and duet handled in one structure.

  • Philippines (Bohol)

Key facts

  • Five levels – Twinkler, Star, Junior, Cadet and Senior – plus two team groups, Cadet Choir and Senior Duet; the rules print no ages, so the age bands are placeholders
  • Ten contests across 14 entries: poem, vocal solo, on-the-spot drawing, declamation, essay writing, tula, vocal duet, on-the-spot painting, spoken word poetry and singing choir
  • Girls only throughout; one category per girl at any level, and previous provincial first-prize winners cannot re-enter the same category
  • Languages split by contest: English, Tagalog and the local Visayan language, with Visayan set as Any/NA because the platform has no entry for it
  • Marks are printed only for Spoken Word Poetry and Singing Choir (both out of 100); every other contest ships without criteria, and all entries install as /100 with fees at zero
  • Time limits are set only where printed: 3 to 5 minutes for spoken word poetry and the choir; no ranks, grades or points are printed
