Archeparchy of Kalyan (Syro-Malabar) Department of Catechesis faith festival 2026-27: fancy dress, character presentation, action song, colouring, solo song, folk dance, Bible story telling, Gospel Newsroom, mono act, sermon, Bible Shark Tank, poster making and more across seven class sections, built from the Archeparchy’s own rules

A ready-made faith-festival programme: 15 individual items across seven class sections, from fancy dress for the youngest children to Bible Shark Tank and extempore speech for Classes 11 and 12, with every printed time limit and language rule captured.

This template models a faith festival run by a diocesan catechesis department for the children and teenagers of its parishes. Entrants are grouped by school class rather than by age, in seven sections: Jesus Kids (no class printed), Little Disciples (Classes 1-2), Faith Explorers (Classes 3-4), Torchbearers (Classes 5-6), Covenant Keepers (Classes 7-8), Pathfinders (Classes 9-10) and Summit Seekers (Classes 11-12). Because the rules print classes and not ages, the template adds whole-year age bands as a guide and restricts each section by class.

Every item is individual; the programme prints no team or group item. Each section has its own short list. The youngest children do fancy dress. Classes 1-2 present a character, sing an action song and colour. Classes 3-4 sing a solo, sit a Bible quiz and tell a Bible story. Classes 5-6 perform a solo folk dance, sing a solo and write Bible verses. Classes 7-8 repeat folk dance and solo song and add Gospel Newsroom. Classes 9-10 perform a mono act, deliver a sermon and sit a Bible quiz, and Classes 11-12 take on Bible Shark Tank, poster making and extempore speech.

Time limits are strict and printed per item, from two minutes for fancy dress and character presentation up to four minutes for folk dance and mono act, with a thirty-minute colouring round and a sixty-minute poster round. Where the rules allow a choice of languages (English, Malayalam, Hindi or Marathi) the item is set to any language; the Bible quiz and Bible verse writing are English only. The Bible quiz is a written test, 20 questions for Classes 3-4 and 30 for Classes 9-10, with the top seven going to an oral final.

Judging criteria are printed at 10 marks each, which gives only 30 or 40 marks per item and never the 100 the platform requires, so the template ships no criteria and uses a neutral maximum of 100 for every item; the printed criteria are listed in the item pages instead. No placings, points or grades are printed, so none are installed. Rules with no structured field – a mark deducted for every extra 15 seconds, a limit of two items per student, two entries per event per parish at forane level, and only the first and second prize winners going on to the archeparchial round – are best published to parishes as written rules. Fees are installed as zero.

Where this event comes from

The structure comes from the festival’s own 2026-27 rules, an eight-page document issued by the organising catechesis department, which sets out the sections, items, time limits and criteria.

Where this event is run

The shape – class-based sections, individual items only and a mix of performance, written and speaking events – suits parish, forane and diocesan faith festivals and catechism or Sunday school competitions, where children enter in stages from parish level up to a final round. Its Bible quiz, verse writing and sermon items fit any religious-education festival that wants spoken, written and artistic entries side by side.

Key facts

  • 15 individual items across 7 class sections, from Jesus Kids to Classes 11-12; no team or group items
  • Sections are set by class, not age; the template’s age bands (3-5 up to 16-18) are a guide only
  • Time limits run from 2 minutes (fancy dress, character presentation) to 4 minutes (folk dance, mono act); colouring is 30 minutes and poster making 60 minutes
  • Bible quiz is a written test (20 questions for Classes 3-4, 30 for Classes 9-10) with the top 7 going to an oral final
  • Printed criteria are 10 marks each (30 or 40 per item), so items use a default maximum of 100 and ship without criteria
  • The 2026-27 archeparchial round is on 13 December 2026, with forane lists due 29 November 2026

Frequently asked questions

Can I change this template after installing it?

Yes — installing it creates a fully configured, live event, not a locked package. Every age group, competition item, rule and scoring setting can be edited afterwards to match exactly what your event actually needs.

Do I need technical knowledge to set this up?

No. Installing a template does the setup work for you; you only need to review the details (dates, unit or house names) and open registration.
