Who enters, and how they’re grouped
Most devotional song competitions skip age-group banding altogether and run as one or two open categories — because the audience is a whole congregation or community, not a school roll. The two splits organisers actually use:
- By age band (where children also take part) — commonly Kids (under 12), Teens (13-17), Adults (18-40) and Seniors (40+), so a ten-year-old isn’t judged against a trained adult voice.
- By entry type only, no age split — a single Open category when the event is adult-led (a bhajan mandal evening, a church devotional night) and children rarely enter.

Levels and how results are organised
Most devotional song competitions run at a single level — one temple, one church, one cultural association, one evening, one set of results. Is a devotional song competition judged differently from a regular singing competition?

Can one event run both a bhajan round and a choir round?

Do devotional song competitions need age groups?
