The Special School Kalolsavam is Kerala’s arts festival for students in special schools, published on the same official KITE Ulsavam portal as the main school kalolsavam. It is organised into three categories — hearing impaired (HI), visually impaired (VI), and intellectually challenged students (listed as MC in the official item list) — and each category has its own item list. Within each category, every class group gets the same list of items. Children compete against others of the same category and class group, not against the whole festival.

Notice the recitation item. It is split into two separate entries by degree of hearing loss — below 70 decibels and above 70 decibels — so a child is compared only with children who hear about as well as they do. How the overall championship is decided
The official portal states the rule plainly: the overall championship goes to whoever earns the most total grade points across the categories. If two are level, place points decide it, and if they are still level, the one with more first places wins. Results are shown for leading districts overall and for leading schools within each category.
