A district-level kalolsavam is a different beast from a single-school arts day: many schools, multiple sub-districts, and winners feeding upward round after round. This guide shows how to run a district kalolsavam on eTalenter — where schools are the units, there are no houses, and results cascade up the levels automatically.
The levels: District → Sub-District → School
Unlike a school festival (which splits candidates into houses), a district festival’s units are the schools. In Event Levels you build the hierarchy — typically District → Sub-District → School — and each school, sub-district, and district is a unit on that tree. There are no houses at this scale; competition is school-wise, and points roll up by school and sub-district to the district.
Age groups and competitions
Set up your Age Groups (commonly LP, UP, HS, HSS) and your competition catalogue — Solo Song, Group Song, Classical Dance, Elocution, Painting, Mono Act, Quiz, and so on — then Assign Competitions to Groups with each item’s language, gender, individual/team, time limit and rules. This is identical to a school festival; only the level structure changes.
Registration is bottom-up, not everyone at every level
The key difference is who registers, and where. Fresh registration happens at the first level only:
- School / entry level — candidates or their guardians register through the public registration form, or a school coordinator adds them (bulk or from Excel). Public entries are reviewed and approved by the coordinator, with applicants notified by email.
- Higher levels — no fresh registration. Each sub-coordinator (per school, then per sub-district) enters only the candidates who qualified below, because they hold those results. Winners are promoted upward.
Results cascade upward
eTalenter mirrors how real festivals flow: school → sub-district → district (and onward to zonal and state where applicable). Each level’s coordinator finalises its results and submits the qualifiers up to the next level. Tabulation, points, and grades are calculated automatically at every stage — no manual counting, no lost mark sheets.
Run the day: draw, judging, and publishing
Assign judges and sub-coordinators per level, schedule stages with the token system, run the draw for chest-number order, and let judges score online. Publish results instantly to public pages, podium views, and social-media cards, then calculate the district championship and print champion, rank, and participation certificates.
Frequently asked questions
Do schools re-register at the district level?
No. Only the winners from the level below are promoted up by their sub-coordinator, based on the results already recorded — so there’s no duplicate data entry.
Can it go beyond district to zonal and state?
Yes — add as many event levels as your festival needs; results keep cascading upward the same way.
